Varanasi Cantonment Board is responsible for overall sanitation of the Varanasi Cantonment such as garbage lifting, waste disposal, cleaning of drains, public roads & various public places. The sanitation section of Varanasi Cantonment Board looks after such areas as public roads & places, waste disposal, cleaning of drains and garbage lifting. In order to provide a clean and green environment, mobile plastic dustbin are placed at suitable locations and the waste is collected mechanically from there for disposal. Varanasi Cantonment is maintaining dustbins and manpower for provisioning of conservancy services. Board is also maintaining Sewer Jetting machine, other  equipment.

Varanasi Cantonment Board is implementing guidelines issued by the Ministry of Urban Development under Swachh Bharat Mission. Regular cleaning drives with public participation are being encouraged. Varanasi Cantonment was ranked 5^th Cleanest Cantonment across 62 Cantonments in India by Ministry of Urban Development, Govt. of India for the year 2020.

Citizens Responsibilities

1.The citizens are responsible for deposit of garbage at the dust bins provided by the Board.

2.The citizens shall not use or permit to be used as latrines or urinal any place not intended for the purpose.

3.Citizens shall take all reasonable means to prevent child from easing in public street or public places.

4.The citizens will provide receptacles of self-closing type within their premises.

5.The occupier of all Bungalow/Houses will keep their premises neat and clean.
